Setting up a Hayat Gate site

gate.hayaterp.com ↗

Create a site (society, office, mall, parking lot) in Hayat Gate, then its zones and floors, gates, lanes with their direction, the cameras on each lane, the barrier output, and a device with its one-time pairing code for the Gate Agent. Settings for the whole business — photo retention, minimum confidence, AI fallback, alerts.

Everything in Hayat Gate belongs to a site: one society, office building, mall or parking lot. You describe the site once — its gates, lanes and cameras — and the Gate Agent at the gate downloads that setup by itself. You need Set up sites, lanes, cameras, devices… (gate.manage).

A typical small society looks like this:

Site Gate Lane Direction Camera Barrier
Green Valley Society Main gate Entry 1 In Entry cam (RTSP) Relay channel 1
Exit 1 Out Exit cam (RTSP) Relay channel 2
Back gate Both ways Both Hik ANPR Camera alarm output 1

1. Create the site

  1. Open Sites → + New site.
  2. Type a short Code (e.g. GVS) and the Name (Green Valley Society).
  3. Pick the Kind: Society, Office, Mall, Parking lot or Other.
  4. Fill the Address and City. Leave the Time zone on Asia/Karachi unless the site is abroad — time windows and reports use it.
  5. Security companies: fill Client name, Client contact, Client phone and Client email — the business you guard this site for.
  6. Alert phones: mobile numbers that get an SMS when a blacklisted vehicle is seen (e.g. the security supervisor).
  7. Residents' portal: tick it to let residents sign in with their phone; then choose whether they may invite visitors and add vehicles (added vehicles wait for your approval), and the longest visitor pass in hours.
  8. Open for everyone: tick only for a site where any car may enter (a public car park without fees). Most sites leave it off.
  9. Save.

The site gets a web address of its own for the residents' portal and pay-by-plate page. New address makes a fresh one if the old one was shared too widely.

2. Zones and floors

Zones count cars for occupancy: a mall's Basement 1 and Basement 2, a society's Visitor parking. On the site, Zones → + Add zone: Name, Level (floor number) and Capacity (spaces). Each entry lane can be linked to a zone; then every car in raises its count and every car out lowers it. A site with no paid parking can skip zones.

3. Gates and lanes

A gate is a physical entrance (Main gate, Back gate). A lane is one path through it with one barrier.

  1. Gates → + Add gate, type the Name, Save.
  2. Lanes → + Add lane: choose the Gate, type the Name (Entry 1).
  3. Direction: In, Out or Both. A lane with a fixed direction is always logged that way, whatever the camera thinks.
  4. Zone: the floor or area the lane leads into (optional).
  5. Paid parking: tick on the entry and exit lanes of a paid car park — the exit then asks for the fee (Paid parking).
  6. Open for everyone: tick for a lane any car may use (e.g. an exit-only lane in a society). Exits are open by default anyway: a car inside may leave unless it is on the blacklist with Deny or still owes parking.
  7. Save.

4. Cameras

On the lane, Cameras → + Add camera:

Field Fill
Name Entry cam
Kind RTSP for an ordinary IP camera read by the Gate Agent; Hikvision or Dahua for an ANPR camera that reads plates itself
RTSP address RTSP cameras only, e.g. rtsp://192.168.1.64:554/Streaming/Channels/102 — see camera addresses
Username / Password The camera's login. The password is kept encrypted and only sent to your paired gate PC. If you type them inside the address, Hayat moves them into these fields.
IP, Port, Channel ANPR cameras: the camera's LAN IP (the agent only accepts pushes from this IP), port and channel (1)
Role Plate (the camera that reads) or Overview (a wider picture of the car)

For a Hikvision or Dahua camera the page also shows its Push address — the link you paste in the camera if it sends straight to Hayat. See ANPR cameras.

Each camera shows OK / No picture, frames per second and when it last sent a picture or a plate. Snapshot asks the gate PC for a still picture now — handy to check the camera angle from the office.

5. Barriers

On the lane, Barrier → + Add: the Driver (how the agent presses the barrier's open button), its Address, Channel and Pulse (ms) (500 is usual). Choose None while you test. The drivers and wiring are on Barriers.

6. Devices and the pairing code

A device is one Gate Agent PC. One PC can serve all the lanes of a site.

  1. On the site, Devices → + Add device, type a Name (Main gate PC), Save.
  2. Hayat shows a pairing code of 8 letters and digits, e.g. AB12CD34. It works once and for 15 minutes.
  3. Type it on the gate PC while installing the agent. The device turns Online within a minute.
  4. Code expired? New pairing code on the device row.

The device list shows Online / Offline, the PC name, agent version, Queue (reads not yet uploaded — normally 0) and free disk space. Revoke stops a stolen or replaced PC at once; pairing a new PC with a new code also cuts off the old one.

Changes you save — a new lane, a camera password, a barrier channel — reach the gate PC by themselves within seconds when it is online.

Gate settings

Settings apply to all sites of the business:

Setting Default Means
Keep photos (days) 90 Photos older than this are deleted; the text log stays. See Privacy.

AI fallback On Unclear plates are read again by Hayat AI (uses AI credits; needs the AI feature Number plate reader on in Settings → AI).
Fuzzy match On Corrects one misread character (O/0, B/8…). A real difference never opens the barrier.
Overstay (hours) 24 A car inside longer than this raises an alert.
Device offline (minutes) 5 A gate PC silent this long raises an alert.
Tailgating (seconds) 4 A second car through an open barrier within this time raises an alert.
Suspend overdue passes (days) 7 Monthly passes with an unpaid invoice this many days past due stop working.
Pass invoice due (days) 7 Payment terms on monthly-pass invoices.
Pass item GATE-PASS The ERP item used on monthly-pass invoices (sets the income account and tax).
